Hey, I'm Chris
And I'm on a mission to get more folks cycling in Chicago.
It comes from my story. When I moved to the city, I knew how to ride a bike, but was nervous about car traffic, and it just felt complicated.
But a friend showed me the ropes... the best routes in my neighborhood, the easiest way to lock a bike, and before I knew it I was riding every day.
I created this course for folks who were like me. And I think there are a lot of them!

Any company, organization, or individual may affiliate if they have a platform to promote the course and are approved.
Especially engaging with:
Chicago bike shops
Community groups and non-profits who advocate for biking and sustainable transportation
Chicago businesses who like the cause (coffee shops or bars, etc)
Experienced city cyclists who don't need the course personally but know others who do
Chicago or fitness bloggers who have readers who want to learn to be more confident cyclists
Online marketers who like to promote affiliate options, as long as they aren't scammy. This offer is designed to benefit Chicago and cycling causes.
Feel free to poke around! I suggest that you read:

Beginner or inexperienced cyclists who want to feel more confident commuting by bike to work, or living a more engaged city biking lifestyle.
This isn't a "learn to bike" course—we assume our students know how to ride, but just aren't comfortable riding in the city.
This isn't for experienced cyclists, but experienced cyclists are welcome to become register as an affiliate and earn commissions when they recommend the course to new cyclists!
This course is not a competitive cyclist course—we don't cover racing, competitive group rides, etc.
I'm just a guy who started bike commuting in the city and now I love it and want to teach others. I've gotten involved in bike advocacy, including attending the Mayor's Bike Advisory council and events with ActiveTrans.
Each summer I also lead a "bike ride to Indiana" where I plan a 50-mile route to a brewery and back. I'm a pretty good bike commuter and know Chicago streets fairly well, but there's lots I don't know, so I welcome tips from other experienced cyclists!
I have a backround in marketing, technology, content creation, business consulting, and writing... so it made some sense to create a course out of my hobby. I did all the work myself!
Other fun facts: I have a masters degree in theology (yes) and I'm Yelp 'Elite' reviewer (read: nerd) so I love writing reviews to support local Chicago business.
Yes! Years ago I was a grad student in the city of Chicago, and I regret I got on my bike very rarely because i wasn't very confident. I missed out! It would have a healthier, cheaper option perfect for my low income student life.
Students can get the course for $99. They have to verify their student status by emailing a student ID photo from their edu account. I take care of that verification.
I believe that equity matters and that incomes can vary dramatically in our city. The course is priced appropriately for a professional, but I am contributing a portion of funds received from regular course members to supplement heavily discounted access for those who need. City biking should be for everyone! The equity discount is available to anyone who qualifies and verifies a membership with Chicago's Divvy for Everyone program.
Affiliates still received a 12% commission on these verified discounts.
All you have to do is send potential students to my site, and I do the rest.
My course is hosted by systeme.io, an online course and marketing platform. Once registered, it will send you a link with a unique code. Use this link to send folks to my website.
Systeme.io uses industry-standard cookies to automatically assign you credit if a student purchase course access. Payments are made monthly using secure payment providers such as Paypal for Business.
No.
Thank you for asking. 🙂
Send me an email at chris@bikemy.city and I'll reply personally.
I may or may not be cool.
Nope. You can do as little or much as you like. The "lowest lift" would just to register your account above, and then link from your website. Anyone who visits and buys the course will still generate a commission for you, without costing you anything really.
Brick + mortar stores can also promote my course in-store. On request, we can provide professionally designed business cards and posters that include your affiliate link. For instance, a bike shop might give out a card to interested customers who make a purchase. This also costs almost nothing.
I beleive there are a lot of folks in Chicago who would get into this, so to build larger commissions, someone could put some promotion work into it such as writing articles or blog posts about the course, creating social media content etc.
